"Baldacci report" confirms safety of biotech foods
In 2002, at the request of then Congressman John Baldacci, the US General Accounting Office issued a report on the safety of biotech foods. According to the report, the GAO found that the test used to evaluate biotech foods are "adequate for assessing the safety of these foods" and that the risks posed by genetically modified foods are the same as the risks posed by conventional foods.
Biotech crops providing economic and environmental benefits
A recent report from PG Economics finds that biotech crops added $7 billion to farm income in 2006. More than half of that went farmers in developing countries. Biotech crop plantings decreased greenhouse gas emmissions by an amount equal to taking 6 million cars off the road. Read full story.
